Instant clone benefits

There are several benefits to using instant clones, compared to linked clones:

• Instant clones provision in seconds, whereas linked clones take a lot longer (typically minutes).
• There are no longer any boot storms, as the parent desktop is already powered on, and therefore all instant clones get created in an already powered-on state.

• There is no requirement to perform a refresh or recompose operation, as desktops have a short life cycle.
• Patching the operating system requires you to just update the parent VM, rather than running a recompose operation, resulting in an end user receiving the updated virtual desktop machine on their next login, automatically.
• They lessen the load on the vCenter server.
• There is no requirement for SE Spare Disk or CBRC.
