Understanding how the linked clone process works

There are several complex steps performed by View Composer and View Manager that initiate when a user requests a virtual desktop machine. So, what's the process of building a linked clone desktop, and what goes on behind the scenes? When a user logs into Horizon View and requests a virtual desktop machine, View Manager, using vCenter and View Composer, will create a virtual desktop machine if there is not already one available to the end user.
