5.3 Bulk Materials Warehouse

5.3.1 The design of the bulk materials warehouse shall meet the following requirements:

1 Warehouses storing bulk materials not susceptible to dampness should be adopted as open design or semi-open design.Warehouses storing bulk materials susceptible to dampness shall be adopted as fully enclosed design.Warehouses storing bulk materials needing Dampproof shall be provided with dehumidifying facilities.

2 Pit construction may be adopted inside the warehouse.The depth of such pit should not exceed 2.50m.

3 For open warehouses,the retaining wall,if installed,should be on the windward side of the prevailing wind.Such retaining wall shall be 1.00m higher than the indoor ground level and 0.50m lower than the allowable stocking height of the stored material.

4 The warehouse ground shall be appropriately prepared according to actual geological conditions.Drainage measures shall be taken for the indoor ground.For equipment or steel support to be installed on the ground liable to accumulation of water,concrete foundation shall be provided for such equipment and steel support,whose top surface should be 0.10m to 0.20m above the adjacent ground level.

5 The top surface of the underground bunker,trough and chute inside the warehouse should be at least 0.30m above the floor level.

6 Enclosing measures,ventilation and dust removal facilities shall be adopted for those points,where are liable to generate fly dust.

7 Anti-clogging and anti-bulging measures should be adopted for various storage silos,hoppers and troughs,in cold area anti-freezing measures also shall be adopted.

8 bulk materials The area utilization coefficient of bulk materials warehouse should be gotten from 0.70 to 0.80,.The storage capacity and area shall be calculated in accordance with Appendix D of this Code.

5.3.2 The harrower warehouses shall meet the following requirements:

1 The portal type harrower warehouse shall meet the following requirements:

1)In the warehouse,load-bearing retaining wall shall be set at both ends of the stockpile.The intermediate wall which is lower than the retaining wall may be set in the middle.

2)The level of harrower's ground,which beside the ground belt conveyor,shall meet the requirements of the harrower and should be1.6m to 2.0m higher than the level of±0.00.

3)The ex-warehouse belt conveyor which cooperate with the harrower shall be arranged horizontally and its elevation of belt surface should range from 0.8m to 1.0m.

4)The control room should be arranged in the middle of the bulk materials warehouse,close to the outer side of the ex-warehouse belt conveyor.The elevation of the control room should be 2.00m to 3.00m higher than the ground level of the warehouse.

5)A maintenance site shall be reserved outside the stockpiling area within the warehouse.

2 The rotary harrower warehouse(round)shall meet the following requirements:

1)Overhead belt conveyor shall be adopted for warehouse-in.Materials shall be discharged in the center of the warehouse and stacked with support from rotary harrower.Underground belt conveyor shall be adopted for warehouse-out.

2)In the round warehouse,corresponding rotary harrower shall be used for material stacking and reclaiming.Belt conveyor shall be used for both feeding and discharging.The level of the ground at the middle foundation of the rotary harrower shall be increased.The conical warehouse floor should have a horizontal contained angle ranging from 6°00′to 7°12′.

5.3.3 The bridge grabbing crane warehouse shall meet the following requirements:

1 The span of the warehouse should be no less than 24.00m.Column spacing should range from 6.00m to 9.00m.The length of the warehouse should be no less than 2 times of the span of the warehouse.Space shall be reserved for maintenance and repair of the grab bucket at the longitudinal ends.

2 When two or more bridge grabbing cranes are installed on the same rail,the operating length of each crane should be no less than 40.00m.Each crane shall be able to shut off separately.The civil design load shall be calculated based on the maximum wheel pressure when two cranes works together closely within the same column.

3 The main slide line for the power supply of the crane shall be installed opposite to the operator's cab.

4 An aisle shall be provided at the outer side of the crane rail.In case there are any columns at the outer side,the net width of the aisle outside the column shall be no less than 0.60m.The headroom clearance shall be no less than 2.20m.Guard rail with an effective height of 1.10m shall be provided when no retaining wall is installed outside the aisle.Each crane shall be provided staies to the operator to ascend from the ground to the operator's cab.

5 The span of the warehouse with motor vehicle traffic should be no less than 24.00m.The vertical difference between the crane rail top elevation and the railroad rail top elevation shall be no less than 8.00m.The maximum travelling height of the grab bucket shall be 0.30m to 0.50m lower than the height limit.The distance between the lower limit of the grab bucket(in open state)and the surface of the hopper or the top of the stockpile shall be no less than 0.50m.The rail level of the crane with a lifting capacity of 5.0t shall be at least 5.00m above the surface level of the stockpile,and 12.00m to 15.00m above the ground level of the warehouse.

6 Singe type and specification of materials should be stored in single warehouse.When two or more types or specifications of materials need to be stored in the same warehouse,partition walls should be provided for separation.

7 The stacked height of spontaneously combustible materials should not be higher than 3.5m.Also,stacking of such material at low floor level is not recommended.The stacked height of materials other than spontaneously combustible materials may be increased.

8 When high-level receiving hopper is adopted for warehouse-out of bulk materials,the top elevation of such receiving hopper should not be higher than 6.00m.The grating installed on the top opening shall be able to bear the impact from the grab bucket.The centerline of the hopper shall be maintained at a position within 0.5m of the horizontal travelling limit of the grab bucket.When two receiving hoppers are provided within the same warehouse,the spacing between such hoppers should be ranged from 25.00m to 50.00m.

9 When the railroad unloading platform is established within the span of the crane,the distance between the center of the railroad and the edge of the column shall be no less than 2.50m(adopting single side discharge).The operator's cab of the crane should be arranged at the side close to the railroad platform.

10 For warehouses where bulldozer or loader works,the column spacing shall be no less than 7.20m.In addition,accesses shall be provided for bulldozers or loaders.

11 Ground belt conveyor should not be arranged along the railroad platform within the span of the bridge grabbing crane.When it is unavoidable,the mobile receiving hopper should not be higher than the upper edge of the open railroad car.The size of the upper opening of the receiving hopper shall be matched the size of the opened grab bucket.Grating shall be provided with a hole size in line with the working requirement of the feeder under the hopper.

5.3.4 The warehouse not equipped with crane shall meet the following requirements:

1 The warehouse should be provided with bulldozer,loader,forklift,mobile belt conveyor,trolley or other handling equipment.

2 The number of bulldozers used for stacking and reclaiming may be determined based on the work quantity and the performance of such bulldozers.The number of standby bulldozers should be no less than 50% of the calculated number.When bulldozers are used only for leveling,compaction and handling,the total number of such bulldozer should be no less than 2.For crawler bulldozers,the transportation distance should be no larger than 50m.A wheeled loader may be provided based on the need of handling operation.

3 When bulldozers are used,a bulldozer warehouse shall be established nearby the warehouse and provided with wash station and fuel store.
